Soybean Harvest Complete

(Read more to see professional photos of harvest by Jennifer Ryan, a freelance agricultural photo journalist.) Soybean harvest is complete. We’ve harvested all of the full season beans and double crop beans (beans planted directly after harvesting wheat). This year we planted a half circle differently as a test plot. Through looking at the combine mapping, we were able to see a clear difference in the yield. So we’ll continue to do what we did this year versus switch our practices to the test plot which yielded lower.

We also harvested a seed test plot which had 22 different varieties of soybean seeds, and surprisingly, they all came out about equal.

Photo journalist Jennifer Ryan visited the farm to take some stock photos of soybean harvest. Check out a few of her great pics below. You can also visit her site: www.jenniferkryan.com for more pictures and interesting articles.
